"Argentina has been my fishing destination for more than 30 years. The people, its culture, the endless varieties of fishing adventures, and the beautiful fishing grounds are reasons to make Argentina my adopted."
 Mel Kriger

Some Fishing Zones

San Ramón de la Nueva Orán
Access to the Upper Bermejo and the San Francisco, Pescado, Lipeo, and Iruya Rivers, the latter with clear mountain waters. Fly-casting is the most popular method for hooking dorados (Salminus maxillosus) and trout. The season runs from September to the end of November.

Córdoba
Excellent trout fishing grounds abound in the streams around Villa General Belgrano, Pampa de Achala, Quebrada del Condorito, and Panaholma River, all of them teeming with brook trout. Although the rainbow trout is the most common species in this area, brown trout as well as salmon – which prefer brooks and tributary streams rather than lakes – have been recently introduced. The fishing season runs from October to May.

Paraná River and its tributaries
Fishing for a wide variety of species in the Upper Paraná River can be a most rewarding experience. The areas off the towns of Ituzaingó, Itá Ibaté, Itatí, Isla del Cerrito, Paso de la Patria, Corrientes, Empedrado, Bella Vista, Goya, Reconquista, Esquina and La Paz are internationally renowned fishing grounds for large dorados. All fishing methods are practiced, and fly-fishing has become increasingly popular.

From Bariloche to Esquel
Patagonian rivers draining into the Atlantic and those flowing east, as well as the area’s deep crystal clear lakes, constitute the most important zone for fishing species of the salmon family in South America, and one of the most extensive in the world. A breathtaking scenery of thousand-year-old woods and snow-covered mountains draws visitors from around the world. An endless watershed of lakes and rivers like the Limay, Rivadavia, and Grande provide excellent opportunities for fly-fishing. Fishing grounds include the Nahuel Huapi, Lago Puelo, and Los Alerces national parks. To the south, Lake Winter and Corcovado are home to the world’s largest brookies.

Aluminé River and tributaries
Near Junín de los Andes are Chimehuín River's headwaters, an extremely attractive area for fly-fishermen on account of the exceptional quality of its brown and steelhead trout. This is one of the most outstanding grounds for fly-fishing in the country due to the characteristics of the rivers, the climate, and its scenic beauty.

Mendoza
The cold waters of natural streams coming from the Andes Range, and artificial reservoirs, are ideal for the growth of rainbow and brown trout. Season: after seasonal ice break-up and thaw.

Termas de Río Hondo
Downstream from the Frontal dam, dorados abound in the rapids and pools of Dulce River. This area comprises an approximately 120-km-long stretch suitable for fly-fishing.
