You can find many active outdoor activities in Denver. There are tons of bike paths in the city that lead anywhere you want to go. Castlewood Canyon is nearby and has many trails on which to hike. Take a walk in the Denver Botanical Gardens and see the many flowers and plants that grow there.
There are all kinds of festivals all through the summer in the city. The Colorado Renaissance Fair is nearby and goes from June 13 to August 2; the Cherry Creek Arts Festival in early July is very popular; the Dragon Boat Festival is in late July; and the Rocky Mountain Balloon Festival (Hot Air Balloons) is during the end of August.
For great family fun see the Downtown Aquarium or the Denver Zoo. Water World is a great water park with raft rides and slides. If that isn’t enough try Lakeside Amusement Park with 40 rides including a wooden coaster built in 1940. There is a great 15-ride Kiddie land there too.
Shopping in Denver is quite an experience. Downtown you can visit Rockmount Ranch Wear that has been there forever. Larimer Square is a block of unique shops in historic buildings. Western Theme abounds in most of these stores. Find a store called BoulderSpace where you will find clothing and household goods you can’t find anywhere but here. Cherry Creek North will put any shopper into fits of pleasure and has just about any type of shopping experience from shoes to designer clothing.
